February 24, 2026 - In a brilliant display of statesmanship, President Donald Trump has acquired the country of Ukraine as the 51st state of the union. The president know for business acumen and unorthodox approach to politics, had been threatening Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy with foreclosure in the hopes of recovering more than 100 billion dollars owed to American taxpayers.
Since Ukraine remains in default on its massive loan from the United States, President Trump somehow lead members of congress to draft legislation recognizing Ukraine as the 51st State of the Union, bypassing the requirements of Article IV, Section 3 of the Constitution. While the deal officially closed today, constitutional scholars and real estate attorneys are still debating the legalities of the "Great Foreclosure" considered by many to be the most complex acquisition of territory by the United States since the Louisiana Purchase.
Former president Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a statement to the Ukrainian people expressed his regret regarding the deal, but admitted that the outcome was inevitable since the country had no other options to repay its debts. "While we may have lost our independence as a nation, Ukraine has been adopted into a new Family of States that will never default on its debts," he said.
Sources state that Zelenskyy will remain as interim governor of the state until elections can be organized to chose a new governor and state legislature..
